inscape design college admission

what are the entry requirements for Design?
Because our Design qualifications are SAQA registered Bachelor of Design degrees and diplomas,
for admission, South Africans need:

  • a National Senior Certificate that states that "the candidate ... has met the minimum requirements for ad-mission to a bachelors' degree, diploma..." (For a detailed explanation of the admission requirements, please read DoE Admission Require-ments for Higher Education) and
  • Visual Arts or Design in Grade 12.

Students with international school-leaving certificates need:

  • an Equivalence Certificate or Foreign Conditional Exemption, for which you can apply to HESA's Matriculation Board (do this months in advance as HESA receives thousands of appli-cations) and
  • Visual Arts or Design in your final year of school.

Self-taught people and people who studied elsewhere need:

  • or Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) or Credit Accumulation and Transfer (CAT)
Complete the RPL/CAT Application form and present a portfolio of work which demonstrates where your knowledge and skills match our syllabus. Legislation limits credits granted through RPL/CAT to a maximum of 50% of your course.
(For a detailed explanation of the RPL and CAT, please read the RPL/CAT Policy)

I did not take Visual Arts at school, can I still study Design?
Sure you can. We offer a Design Foundation course if you did not take Visual Arts in Grade 12.
Entry requirements for Design Foundation are the same as for Interior Design and Graphic Design except that you do not need to have taken Visual Art in Grade 12.
