MODULE OUTCOME

Upon completion of this module the learner should:

·         Think and work like an interior decorator – according to the design process,

·         Have basic conceptualisation skills (creative problem solving skills) and be able to apply these practically,

·         Have established an understanding of practical research skills and techniques and understand the importance of research in the design process,

·         Have an understanding of the design elements and design principles (visual order) and be able to apply this practically within a space

·         Understand the importance of dealing with a client professionally.

·         Be able to consolidate a clients requirements and needs.

·         A thorough understanding of colour theory and terminology when working with colour.

·         Mixing colours accurately and using workable colour schemes to enhance an environment.

·         Understanding Colour Psychology and its inherent role within a person's environment.

·         Understanding lighting and the basic effects it has on an interior space.

 

 

Upon completion of this module the learner should:

  • Demonstrate the skilful ability to produce good quality lines of specific line weights in both pencil and   ink, and the ability to know when to apply each weight to achieve a highly legible drawing.
  • Demonstrate the ability to project a variety of geometric forms with a high level of accuracy.
  • Demonstrate the ability to layout the contents of a drawing sheet conventionally, demonstrating a strong sense of order thus enabling the contents to be read with ease
  • Demonstrate the ability to produce drawings following the conventional process of draughting on a drawing board.
  • The skilful ability to produce numerous examples of well formed text in a conventional draughting font.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the concept of scale and apply the concept accurately and neatly.

 

Upon completion of this module the learner should:

  • Understand the definition of a plan view and the conventional methods of representation on a drawing sheet
  • Understand the definition of an elevation and the conventional methods of representation on a drawing sheet.
  • Understand the definition of a section and the conventional methods of representation on a drawing sheet.
  • Understand and have the ability to apply the understanding of how to project one view from another as a means of checking their own drawings.
  • Demonstrate the ability to generate a concept model that accurately represents the given plans.
  • Demonstrate the knowledge used in cross referencing of sections and elevations.
  • Demonstrate the correct use of conventional and accurate dimensions and heights.
  • Demonstrate the correct use of conventional hatching to correct scale.
  • Demonstrate the correct use of conventional representation of components. (e.g. doors, windows, tiles etc).
  • Demonstrate the correct use of conventional use of special lines where required. (e.g. section lines, break lines, dashed lines, ground lines.)
  • Demonstrate the ability to render plans and elevations in a medium of their choice.

·   Understand the concept of perspective, through observation,

·   Understand and apply one point and two point perspective.

·   Have an awareness of the various rendering mediums available, and have a basic knowledge and skill in some.

MODULE OUTCOME

Upon completion of this module, the learner should:

·         Be aware of various finishes and treatments that are available,

·         Be knowledgeable of existing manufacturers and suppliers relevant to the industry.

·         Understand the basic properties of various materials required of the industry.

 

 

Upon completion of this module the learner should:

·         Have an awareness of Furniture Styles chronologically from ancient times up to and including the 20th century.

 

Upon completion of this module the learner should:

·         Have an understanding of the process and stages required in order for an interior decorating project to be thorough, consistent and ultimately successful

·         Have an understanding of the importance of good relations and communication methods in order to satisfy the clients needs

·         Have the ability to complete an interior decorating project from beginning to end And will have an awareness of the management involved in the implementation of such a project on approval thereof.

 

Upon completion of this module the learner should:

·   Have a good understanding of the practical implementation of an Interior decorating Project, from the conceptualising phase to the installation and hand over of the project

·   Complete a visual and verbal presentation as a proposal for the client and project of their choice.

MODULE OUTCOME

Upon completion of this module, the learner should:

  • Correctly create and save an adequate Drawing Template File.
  • Complete a typical architectural floor plan.
  • Print a multi scale drawing.
  • Correctly apply template file settings.
  • Demonstrate the correct application of typical Drawing, Modify, Management and Inquiry commands within the program.
  • Demonstrate accuracy of printed drawing.

               

 

Upon completion of this module the learner should:

  • Have an understanding of how a small business is started and run with regards to the following aspects
  1. Finances,
  2. VAT and Income Tax
  3. Establishing the business
  4. Selling the product
  5. Legal matters

 

Upon completion of this module the learner should:

·           Demonstrate the ability to produce a portfolio presentation of a selection of their work completed during the programme professionally.

·           Demonstrate that they are industry-ready and have developed the confidence to enter industry as interior decorator with leadership,

·           Demonstrate an ability to work independently and employ all aspects of interior decorating to solve design problems successfully.

 

Upon completion of this module the learner should:

  • Have firsthand experience of day to day operation in industry,
  • Be equipped to function in an interior decorating environment,
  • Have demonstrated industry-readiness and have developed the confidence to enter industry, and
  • Be competent to undertake and manage all aspects of interior decorating projects; from sourcing work, meeting with clients, problem solving, decorating work, project management, site meetings and general administrative duties.
